Developer Bungie originally developed Halo as a real-time strategy game for the Apple Macintosh platform. When the company was bought by Microsoft, the game became a Xbox launch title. Halo: Combat Evolved was released for Xbox on November 15, 2001, and was later ported to both Mac and Windows PCs.

And yes linux does run halo with Wine (Windows 'emulator')
